Specialist Programs
Our Specialist Australian Rules Football, Netball and World Football (soccer) programs allow students in Years 7-10 with a passion for these sports to train and develop under the skilled guidance of elite coaches. Students attend these programs in place of regular Health and PE lessons.

World Football
The World Football Program is a specialist pathway for students with a strong interest in football. The program integrates the Australian Curriculum for Health and Physical Education with high-quality, football-specific training to support students technical, tactical, physical and personal development.
Students participate in structured training sessions during curriculum time, supported by qualified staff and specialist coaches. Lessons focus on skill acquisition, game understanding, strength and conditioning, leadership, teamwork, and analysis, while still meeting curriculum assessment requirements.
The program caters for a range of ability levels, with deliberate differentiation to challenge advanced players while supporting skill development for all students. Opportunities also extend beyond curriculum lessons through structured competitive pathways, including knockout tournaments, Saturday morning sport and First XI representation.
World Football

Netball
The Specialist Netball Program at Gleeson College is proud to be recognised as a Netball SA Endorsed School. This endorsement reflects our growth, and dedication to providing meaningful opportunities within the netball industry and offering students exposure to various pathways available within the sport, including playing, umpiring, coaching, and broader sports‑related careers.
Through a combination of structured coaching sessions delivered by experienced teaching staff and on special occasions, by current high‑level players, the program provides students with access to advanced expertise.
The program supports students in developing confidence, resilience, and personal growth, as well as essential capabilities in teamwork, leadership, injury management and prevention, athletic nutrition, and tactical awareness. This holistic approach empowers young athletes to achieve their personal best on the court, supports their academic success beyond it, and strengthens their skills, deepens their engagement with the game, and fosters a lifelong appreciation for the sport.
Australian Rules Football
The Specialist Australian Rules Football Program offers students a unique opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding of Australian Rules Football. Open to both male and female students, the program combines practical skill development with theoretical learning, covering areas such as game strategies, fitness, nutrition, injury prevention, and leadership.
Students benefit from expert coaching, tailored training programs, and excursions, while also gaining insight into potential pathways within the sport whether as a player, coach, official, or in sports-related careers. The program promotes teamwork, resilience, and personal growth, helping students excel both on and off the field, while fostering a lifelong connection to the game.
